Friends of Londiani relies on volunteers throughout Ireland and around the globe. There are many different ways to get involved each with varying time commitments.
Through fundraising events - This can be organising an event for FOL's benefit or getting involved with one of FOL's national events. Resource material, briefing and any necessary equipment will be provided by FOL to support volunteers wishing to come on board. Check out the fundraising page for more details.
Volunteer projects - These projects occur in Kenya and focus on working with the local communities. The projects vary in length and occur at different times of the year depending on the needs of the communities and the ongoing work of Friends of Londiani.
Schools - Friends of Londiani works with schools around Ireland on many development education programmes. FOL provides workshops for students on the Millennium Development Goals and gives presentations on the work done in Kenya.
FOL is happy to visit schools and this can be arranged as part of students' study of Civic, Social, Political Education (CSPE) in second-level schools.
FOL will support students doing research on relevant development topics - e.g. Social Innovators, Young Scientist Exhibition. Students interested in completing research projects should contact the office with their ideas.
Companies - FOL is delighted to work with companies and businesses on social justice programmes and awareness-raising campaigns.
Many workplaces have 'adopted' Friends of Londiani as their charity for a year and undertaken fundraising events.
Some companies sponsored their staff to work as FOL volunteers on a project in Kenya. FOL is happy to discuss ways in which your company or business can work together with us.
Community Groups, Church Groups and Youth Groups - FOL has a great track record of working with various community groups in Ireland. This has included giving talks, trainings, presentations and undertaking joint activities on development issues. This has included groups from Macra na Feirme, the Irish Countrywomen's Association (ICA), many Scout & Girl Guide units, youth clubs and church groups.
