Ndubusat Hospital Project
Ndubusat Maternity Hospital and Bethel Clinic are currently totally funded by Friends of Londiani. The hospital has 6 wards with 18 beds, and this building is almost completed. The medical centre is an outpatients centre and was opened in 2004.
Friends of Londiani support the medical team (Midwife, Community Nurse, Lab Technician, Nurse's Aid) who work there, and the project has the support of the Kenyan Ministry of Health.
During Harambee 2007 a medical team from Ireland will travel to Ndubusat to work with the Kenyan staff. The Friends of Londiani Medical Training Project is being devised to specifically address the implementation of “Safe Motherhood” in the Ndubusat catchment area, which encompasses the following interventions:
- Family and Pregnancy Planning
- Antenatal Care
- Prevention of Vertical Transmission of HIV
- Post-abortion care
- Clean Delivery
- Essential Obstetric Care
- Essential Neonatal Care
- Postpartum Care
It is proposed to run 4 to 6 training modules in Ndubusat in 2007 for the hospital staff and for potential primary care health workers.
