The
Bethel Medical Centre was funded by FOL Ireland, and was officially
opened on November 12th, 2004.
The
plan for 2005 is to build a maternity hospital in Ndubusat, Kebeneti.

has the support of the local community and the Ministry of Health.
Work
will be completed by a team of Irish and Kenyan workers in June

Ndubusat
Primary School
Ndubsat
Primary School currently consists of 4 classrooms, and is in very
bad repair. About 5 years ago, the parents of the pupils in the
schooll began fundraising to replace the school. They now have built
8 classrooms, and roofed them, but there is no funds for windows,
doors, desks, floors, plastering etc. The FOL Ireland project team
will complete this school in 2005.

Ndubusat
Water Project
The
village of Ndubusat has no running water. Water is available in
a nearby forest which is about 5km from the village. A FOL Ireland
planning team visited NDubusat in November, 2004 and walked with
the locals to the source. They met the water representatives from
the government, local policiticans and the local MP to discuss the
water project- the aim of FOL is to put water into the village for
everyone. This will be a free flow gravity system. This will also
be completed as part of the project in 2005.

AIDS/HIV
Peer Education project
In
2002 a team from Ireland organised and ran a peer education course
for the women in Lelsothet village, Londiani. Since then the women
have travelled on foot to nearby villages and taught other groups
about HIV/AIDS. Next year a further course will be given to these
women, and some representatives of this group will then travel to
Ndubusat to begin a peer education project with the women there.
FOL
Ireland will also run a HIV/AIDS education course for school children
in Ndubusat and the surrounding villages.
The
men in Lelsothet have also requested education so this course will
be run by representatives of FOL Ireland and the local community.
Mobile
Clinics and education for everyone.
As
part of the "outreach" project members fo the FOL Ireland
team will travel to Ndubasat and surrounding villages to provide
medical assistance and education on nutrition, immunisations, malaria
etc. This project will be supported by the staff in the Bethel Medical
Centre.
Lelsothet
Water Project
Members
of the FOL service team, along with members of the local community
in Lelsothet will put 12 water tanks into the village for the whole
commmunity. They will be used to collect rain water, and supply
water to the homes in the dry season. This was decided after much
