Mission Statement

The mission of Harambee 2005 is to work together with the people of Lelsothet, and Ndubusat to make positive changes in terms of health, education, water supply and food in their community, and to develop and enrich our own skills and cultural awareness.

Through our aims and objectives we hope to fulfil this mission statement.

Harambee 2005 Aims

" To work in equal partnership with the people of Lelsothet and Ndubusat
" To improve the overall health and well being of the people in Ndubusat
" To improve the quality of life of the people and children in the area.
" To provide education in HIV/AIDS, Malaria, Nutrition and Immunisations for the community in Lelsothet and Ndubusat.
" To provide opportunities for relationships between Ireland and Kenya.

Harambee 2005 Objectives

  • Build a maternity hospital in Ndubusat. Currently, FOL Ireland has funded the building of a clinic - "Bethel Medical Centre" in Ndubsat. This building was officially opened during our planning trip in November, 2004. We will endeavour to work with the local people to build a permanent hospital in Ndubusat.
  • Bring running water to the villages of Ndubusat and Lelsothet.
  • Complete the building, plastering, and painting of the local primary school in Ndubusat. This building was started 5 years ago, but due to lack of funds could not be completed.
  • Paint and decorate the school and the hospital
  • Run a HIV/AIDS peer education course in Ndubusat and Lelsothet.
  • Organise a malaria education and awareness campaign.
  • Construct mosquito nets in the homes near the river in Ndubusat.
  • Establish an immunisation awareness campaign in Ndubusat
  • Establish a nutrition education campaign in Ndubusat
  • Run mini-clinics for medication and education in Ndubusat.
  • Run Computer courses for the students and adults in Lelsothet.
  • Gardening at the home, school and hospital
  • Run a Children's Summer Camp in Ndubusat and the Bethel Faith Home in Londiani.
