IrishAid

Our Health, Water and HIV/AIDS projects are part-funded by Irish Aid.

Project Aims & Objectives

1. Working together.

To provide an opportunity for the 3 Guide Associations in Ireland to work together as a single unit creating a sense of achievement and goodwill amongst them and thus strenghtening the relationship between the associations.

  • To facilitate a possible long-term relationship between the Irish Guiding Associations and the Kenyan Girl Guides. This may enable further service projects and exchanges to take place.

2. Sharing Cultures, Sharing WAGGGS.

  • To increase the knowledge and awareness of the participants of Guiding in Kenya and of Guiding in Ireland. To provide opportunities for members of the Irish Guiding Associations to support other members of WAGGGS in a practical way - by providing resources, materials, emotional support etc. To provide a shared experience for members of the Guiding Associations from different regions in which two-way learning can take place.
  • To develop a cross-cultural awareness in girls and young women through a non-formal peer-education project.

3. Personal and Guiding development.

  • To increase the leadership skills amongst the Irish Guide Association members and promote succession planning i.e teaching youth members leadership skills so that we have people in place to continue to run our associations. To lengthen the time that our members will continue to remain in our associations as leaders - members who have these types of "life-changing" experiences tend to stay longer.
  • To deepen the interest and committment in our Irish Guiders to service projects. By providing service to the Kenyan community, participants will have a positive lifetime learning experience.
4. Promoting Guiding.

  • To increase the community and public awareness of Guiding by achieving coverage in print and electronic media in national, provincial and local areas.

    5. Specific aims

  • Based on the actual project
